What You'll Learn
-
A time to delve into where Yin sits within the wider map of yoga lineage and practice and how it has evolved into what we recognise today. We’ll explore the roots and influences behind Yin Yoga Asana, alongside heart-led contemplation around the principles of Yin and Yang, Taoist thought, stillness, and the philosophies that sit beneath the physical practice.
-
The whole training is designed to embrace the energy field of Yin, not only through what you study but through the rhythm of the 10 days. Mornings are softened in more traditional Yin practice, while evenings open into ceremony, embodied movement, sound and other experiences that invite you to meet the Yin field in different ways. This is time to experience it for yourself, spend time within it and begin to understand what “Yin” means beyond simply teaching the shapes.
-
We’ll be diving into the beautiful world fascia, connective tissue, organs, joints, skeletal variation, body diversity, range of motion and the nervous system. We’ll be exploring the above as living cosmic magic as we journey through the body to discover why Yin Yoga is such an inclusive practice.
-
A deeper dive into the meridian pathways and their relationship with the organ systems through the lens of Chinese medicine. We’ll explore the qualities associated with different pathways, how they relate to Yin and Yang, and how this understanding can begin to shape the way you relate to your own body, theme, sequence and experience a Yin practice.
-
This is a space to refine how you actually share Yin Yoga classes with your community. We’ll look at sequencing, different ways of holding space, use of props, use of your voice, sitting comfortably in silence, and how music, sound and instruments can support a class without taking over the experience.
We’ll also spend time on the quieter details pacing, presence, what you say and what you leave unsaid, alongside how to explain the practice clearly in an all-levels room so students understand what they are doing, can make appropriate choices for their own body.
-
You’ll have time to return to yourself over and over in this training, journalling, contemplation & integration. Allowing the practice to become something you know through experience, not only through information.
-
A time to bring your questions around professional growth into the room and receive support around where you are in your teaching path. Through group mentorship, conversation and shared reflection, this space is designed to help you feel more supported, clearer on your next steps and less alone in the professional side of teaching.
The Journey
Across the 10 days, you’ll move through a steady rhythm of embodiment, study, integration and facilitation. Mornings and evenings are there to drop into the field of Yin itself and for space to be held for you, while the middle of the day turns towards study, exploring Yin Yoga philosophy, the body as a living language, meridian theory, organ systems, sequencing, language and the art of holding space.
As the training unfolds, the emphasis gently shifts from receiving and embodying into understanding, integrating and facilitating, so what you eventually teach has been something you have first had the space to truly experience.
Slow mornings, incense flowing, soft sounds and a space for you to grow personally and professionally.
Over the 10 days you will have one full day off to pause and to be.
